Born To Lose
Victory is one of the hardest things for one to achieve in life, it is not only getting what you want, but doing it by overcoming an obstacle. When one is victorious everything they receive what they were fighting for. Most of the time people are able to achive partial victory but end up being a victim. When someone is a victim they don't get what they want and are subjected to some kind of torment. Victims compose most of the world weather one is a victim emotionally, socially, or physically. In Tennessee Whillams "A Streetcar Named Desire" Mitch, Stanley, Stella and Blanch are all parcial victors but in the end there are no victors only victims.
Mitch does not want much in his life other then getting married would be a big victory in his life. Mitch's mother is dying and her last wish is to see her son Mitch married, so that when she dies, her son is taken care of. This is a hard for Mitch to do because he has many things going against him in trying to get a wife. He is already a middle-aged man, this means there is a lack of women for him to marry. Most of the women who were not married at this age were not " marriage material". He also does not have experience in dating so it is hard for him to meet people, and when he does he has trouble knowing what to say. Even though he has all of these things going against him, he finds someone to be with. During one of his card games at Stanley's house he meets Blanch. They begin to date, even though he lacks experience with women she still likes him. They begin to date and Mitch is ready to ask her to marry him. Mitch looks as though he is going to get what he wants.
Even though Mitch seems as though he is going to achieve his goal he ultimately becomes a victim. Mitch thinks that Blanch is a refined lady with strong morals, when in reality she really has a very shady past. Blanch is able to trick Mitch into belie...
