Mitch at first denies these stories and nobly defends his wife to be. But after checking on Stanley's accusations him self he learns that the stories are true. Mitch became a victim of Blanches lies, he lost his last chance to fulfil his mothers wish. In addition to that he also is made a fool in front of his friends because he did not believe Stanley. Even though Mitch came close to achieving his goal he was unable to do it and is a victim.
