a landmark Supreme Court case that integrated the school system and found that "separate but equal" has no place in the education field. The court found that separate educational facilities were inherently unequal, and that segregation of white and black children had a detrimental effect upon black children. There was a sense of inferiority which affected the motivation for children to learn and black children were being deprived mentally and educationally due to the school segregation. Because of these findings and other aspects of the case, the school system was integrated.
             The integration of the school marked a triumph event in many black lives back in 1954. Many blacks felt their children would finally get the education they deserved. Fifty years later and black children are still not getting an equal education. According to an analysis document done by Education Trust Foundation 50 percent of the nation's schools still provide black children with a glossy education that is unequal. One of the reasons is that may schools are still segregated because of socio-economic issues , such as affordable housing and parents with low income levels . The schools in the poorest districts have teachers who are not as qualified as those of wealthier districts. However since the No Child Left Behind Act, all teachers must meet a certain criteria, and must have a certified teaching licenses, which should help eliminate non-qualified teacher teaching in the inner-city schools.
             The education system is failing the American children as a whole but black children are being failed disproportionally . The mere fact that money is not being put into the black or "inner-city" school systems; therefore , we are not getting the proper materials to receive an equal education.
