ntually Wilde was persuaded to run as a reprsentative to the US congress. He served in the 14th,18th,20th,21st,22nd,23nd congress.Just following his term in thr 14th congress,he was admitted to practice in the supreme court.He also served in the house of reprsentatives.Wilde frequently involved himself in a number of community projects.He was briefly a legalconsultant for the Richmond Acedemy in 1814.He served in numerous committees such as the National Seminary of Learning,comittee to revise the rules of the house,Foreign Affais,and Ways and Means. Illness stricken in 1818 ,he was forced to ask for a leave of absence during the warm wheather.
