On July 3, 1776, Washington took command of the troops surrounding Boston, which was occupied by British. He spent a few months training the "rag-tag" team, which was made up of untrained colonists. During the revolution there were limited supplies. George fought in a battle which was called the Battle of Bunker Hill on June 17, 1775. This battle was fought for Bunker Hill, but fought on Breed's Hill. In this battle the British won. Washington also fought in the Battle of Long Island. In this battle there was a defect in the plan. When George sent out 4000 men to guard the Heights of Guana he left the left flank un-defendable. The colonists failed to protect it, loosing more than one thousand men. Another battle Washington fought in was the Battle of Yorktown. Washington led one hundred men to Yorktown to try, and hopefully, to defeat the British, who were under the commands of General Cornwallis. On October 19, 1781, Cornwallis and his 8000 troops surrendered. This wasn't the end of the revolution. The war would last two more years. But finally on October 18, 1782 the British surrendered and were defeated. But the war really wasn't over and it wouldn't be over until the Treaty of Paris was signed on September of 1783, acknowledging American independence.
             George Washington's knowing what he was doing was a great impact on/in the American Revolution. In fighting in the French and Indian War he knew what to do and when to retreat. Good outcomes were he learned from his mistakes and he improved them or fixed them along the way. He worked hard and with his action in the Battle of Yorktown he won. A personal benefit, to maybe Washington, could be that he proved to himself that he could defeat the British if he really tried and he did. There were not only positives in his actions.
