as you are looking into the eyepiece, this is called scanning. It is done so the whole slide may be seen.
             6. To see more detail on the slide, use the high power objective.
             1. Use a medicine dropper to get a sample of pond water. Place two drops onto a clean microscope slide.
             2. Place a coverslip on top of the pond water. Do this carefully, so there are as little air bubbles as possible.
             3. Place the slide on the stage of the microscope. Adjust the microscope so everything can be seen clearly.
             4. Draw a picture of what microorganisms are seen in the slide. Label what these microorganisms are.
             5. When finished, clean and dry the cover slip and the slide.
             1. Obtain three different colors of thread and a slide.
             2. Arrange the threads so that they cross in one point.
             3. Using an eyedropper, place two drops of water on the thread. Then place a clean coverslip over it.
             4. Place the slide on the stage of the microscope, and adjust it until the thread can be clearly seen.
