g mentally ill, frequently had violent outbursts. Koontz who was prone to illness, had to developed his own survival strategies in order to cope with the horrors of his home life. One of his strategies was reading books, which gave him an escape from others, and gave him, a world to step into when his own became too brusque. The treatment he received from his parents was disgusting, (Rogers). Later, after he goes through college and marriage, he finds the meaning of love through his wife.              Through his job in the federal government, he found that research and knowing all the facts are key to perfection. That is why for each book he writes, he begins with research in order to find out all possible information on every genetic disease or disorder he focuses on in his book. The fact that he researches makes his books seem less fiction and more reality, (Churn) .
             It is clear that Koontz's life develops in his novels. He uses real life circumstances and incorporates them with unreal circumstances or events. Most of his novels contain characters who were or had been troubled children, as well as the theme that that those who embrace friendship, love, faith and commitment will inevitably win out over those who are motivated by power, envy, and greed. It is shown in the novels Mr. Murder, The House of Thunder and Fear Nothing, that even though science can be used to clone, change the way people think, and genetically alter humans and animals; love is seen as a feeling that will always exist, and prevail.
