             There were many radical changes taking place in the 1920s. The importance of class distinctions was becoming blurred. Marriage between classes was becoming more acceptable. Moral certainties were under attack. For example, people were asking themselves many questions such as, “Is a world war worth it?,” “Are Einstein’s discoveries legitimate?” and “Are old-fashioned values going astray?”
             Not only were the morals of people changing but technology was also rapidly improving. Cars and home appliances were becoming available to the masses. Consumers could now buy a Ford at a reasonable price due to mass production. No longer was it necessary to live near big cities. Trolleys closed down due to the advent of cars and car pools. Construction became the number one industry in America. The offices in big cities were building up instead of out, and the employment rate skyrocketed.
             Due to available technology, people began to do what was considered impossible. Dreams were now becoming realities. For example, Charles Lindbergh flew the first transatlantic flight and Amelia Earhart also became the first woman to complete a transatlantic flight. In addition, areas of the unexplored world were now explored. For instance, the South Pole expedition was in the planning stage. The significance of this is that none of the poles had ever been visited before. On a darker note, the electric chair was now being used as a form of capital punishment for Death Row inmates.
