clerk has to issue a number for the action. The summon and complaint has to be
             served on the defendant within one hundred and twenty days. A response to a
             summons and complaint is called an answer which has to be served on the
             plaintiff within twenty days and filed with the county clerk with the proof of
             service. If a defendant doesn't answer within twenty days the plaintiff can
             move by notice of motion for a default judgment.
             The following procedure would be filing an R.J.I, which means request for
             judicial intervention. There are a few types of request of R.J.I's, there is a
             request for P.C. meaning preliminary conference. This is to hold a meeting in
             front of a judge to discuss different issues, has to be served on all parties
             at least five days before it's filed at the court. Another R.J.I is a Notice
             of motion, Notice of Motion be heard on a specific date. This particular R.J.I
             has to be filed within eight days of service. Notice of Motion is asking the
             court to issue a specific order, which is a relief. The opposing party for the
             motion is entitled to file paper, to fight the motion. After the process the
             judge issues an order to the decision. There is also Note of Issue, a Note of
             Issue is a request to be placed on the trial calendar. This R.J.I is requested
             when all the discoveries is completed. The time frame for the Note of Issue is
             ten days from the time the of the service.
