qualified authority on the issues of crime and she has done a lot of research on crime. She further states that even if the child does need to bond with his mother that need would be fulfilled through programs that prisons have.
I think that the Incarceration of pregnant women should not be avoided because if they do the crime, they should in turn do the time. Even though Ms. Moriarty's argument missed the whole point of the debate woefully, I am still inclined to take the no position. I think that they should be incarcerated but at the same time, the fact that a woman is pregnant should be taken into consideration in this whole situation.
If an inmate is pregnant, I think should be placed in protective custody for the duration of her pregnancy to avoid any problems and altercations with other inmates. If the facility cannot provide her with adequate health care, I would suggest that if the inmate has any family, they should invest in health insurance for her so that she can be transported to the nearest hospital out side the prison for adequate health care. The unborn child should not be allowed to suffer for the crimes of its parents but at the same time, a criminal should not be excused because of the fact that she is pregnant.
