Slavery was a wealthy investment because enslaved African Americans would never have enough money or property to start a plantation of their own. The slaves were considered stable labor because the slaves are not able to own land or earn money. Americans considered slaves as the human stock market of the United States and were bought and sold at an assortment of prices. The slaves were treated horribly. Whites taught slaves to obey and they enforced illiteracy and racism. Slavery was meant to be the absolute power over one, which was thought of as "hell". Roger B.
