Ann: Chapter 1: Anywhere: Pages 3-24
             Ann and Adele left Wisconsin and headed for California in a stolen car. Adele had taken Ted's Mobil Credit Card, so they could pay for hotels rooms and food. Adele rear-ended someone at a red light. They stayed at The Luau Hotel, for about a week while their car was getting fixed. Adele had a realtor show her a really expensive house; she acted like she was going to buy it even though they didn't have any money. Adele dropped Ann off on the side of the road. Ann walked to an Arco station to make a phone call. Then Adele came back and picked her up.
             Ann: Chapter 2: Bel Air Hotel: Pages 25-36
             They arrived in California. They stopped at a restaurant to clean up before going to the hotel. Adele told Ann she could give herself a new name while they were in California. Ann chose Heather. They washed the car and headed to the Bel Air Hotel. After they checked in they went to the hotels restaurant. Adele got mad at Ann for ordering expensive food when they couldn't afford it.
             Ann: Chapter 3: The House On Carriage Court: Pages 37-130
             Three years before they left for California Adele married Ted Diamond. They bought a rectangular house with no windows, on Carriage Court. Her grandmother took Ann to find different kinds of rocks that they collect. Adele went to California without Ann, but she came back. Ann would bring younger kids over, undressed them and took pictures of them naked. Adele got Ann a bikini. Ann wore it to a public swimming pool and a swarm of boys attacked her, they wanted to see more of her. Adele and Ted rented furniture so they could invite people over for Thanksgiving dinner. Adele thought Tom was cheating on her, so she had Horst, the tailor, call and invite him out with a bunch of girls. Tom said no, to Adele's surprise. Adele took Ann and dropped her off on the highway. She hitchhiked and got a ride with a trucker. He dropped her off on a bridge. She made ...
