Greenfield has written many children's books with the ideal of all children being able to identify with the characters in the storybook. Kevin, in She Come Bringing Me That Little Baby Girl, had great difficulty accepting a newborn sister in the house, because she would take away the love his parents gave him. "I didn't like her anyway. She was too loud... and not only that, I didn't like the way Mama & Daddy looked at her. Like she was the only baby in the world" (Greenfield). Greenfield portrays the way all children, regardless of race and culture, may feel when their parents would bring a baby home. In her books she does not challenge the racism or stereotype barriers the way Polacco does, rather, she portrays the way all children would react.
