al whistle sounds Carlos looks at
the scoreboard with a big smile congratulating his teammates with the victory in the state
championship game, with a score of forty-four to thirteen. In the locker room the young
Guzman is handed the game ball for his great efforts during the game not knowing this
would be his final game in his young football career.
As Carlos awakens Saturday morning with his bones aching and his head feeling as if its
about to explode from the after effects of the game and celebrating from the night before.
His proud father Carlos Senior comes in his son's room letting junior know he has a
telephone call. As Carlos gets to the phone listening like a wolf on the prowl is shocked
at what is being told to him. His greatest fear is now a reality the head coach explaining
to him that he is ineligible to play Division I football because of his low SAT score. Not
telling anyone what happened he rushed out to his old beat up Camero and speeds out
like a racecar driver in the Indy-500. Disgusted with himself and with the rules of the
NCAA, he heads out to his cousin Raul's house. When he arrives he goes directly to the
liquor cabinet and removes a bottle of Tequila. With Raul trying to find out what is
going confronts Carlos and with no reply runs to his muscle car and speeds away to the
rising of the sun. Motoring down a few streets Carlos comes across an abandoned house
near the tracks and enters the house with carelessness. The young man began to drink the
Mexican liquor and thinks to himself how did he mess things up so bad, was he to
confident. Not much later the affects of the tequila began to take control of his emotions,
he starts to cry and thinks to himself if he can't play football what the hell is he going to
do. Becoming more and more outraged he goes to the trunk and pulls a aluminum
baseball and starts whaling at everyt...
