understand Aristotle as explaining his idea of a society fit to live in democracy. Aristotle explains his theory through the qualities these citizens must posses and justifies his position by characterizing middle easterners and Asians.
Aristotle Characterizes Middle Easterners as courageous but lacking in artistic value and understanding. Aristotle views this society as being Strong in its liberty but not mentally capable of being politicians or overtaking its neighbors. In the case of the Asians Aristotle views this culture as being quick minded, artistic, but desolate of courage and strength allowing them to be susceptible to slavery and conquer.
Aristotle goes on to tie the two characterizations together and develops the ideal citizen for democracy using the Greeks as his evidence he explains how they fit the mold lacking only in the fact that they were unable to agree on a type of government. Aristotle sees the Greeks as the median between the two later cultures in that they posses courage, understanding, and artistic value. This in Aristotle's eyes it what is necessary for one to be ready to abide by laws and a governing body. To be the model citizen one must be courageous and sensible they must understand that justice must treat brothers, strangers, and enemies equally only being harsh to those who are cruel. Aristotle feels that those who do not have courage will not be fit for a democracy they will lack the ability to command because courage is commanding. A person who does not have an artistic view will not have the knowledge required to live in a democratic society.

was correct in his understanding that a person with a pool of qualities is much more ...
