live happily ever after. Brandon does meet a girl at the roller rink named Lana and falls in love with her at once. Brandon's troubles start with Lana's friends and family, epically John. Brandon's trouble went from bad to downright terrible with the alpha males entrance.
             The guys in the film feel betrayed by Brandon, and cannot believe that Lana could even feel attracted to a girl posing as a boy. To fix the situation, to reestablish the familiar order of gender and power, they brutally rape Teena and tell her to keep quiet. But the rape is violent; they batter Teena to the point that she must see a doctor, which leads to the sheriff's office. The truth comes out and Brandon must confess his crime that he has a vagina. The tragedy of the rape is tremendous. Women need to watch out for themselves in sketchy situations. If she feels uncomfortable then she should try to avoid the situation before it is too late.
             The film conceptualizes Brandon and Lana instead of trying to explain their actions. It lets you see how they saw themselves, how they desired themselves into existence. It ends up posing precisely the questions that face Brandon and his friends: What does it mean to be a man? How does violence become a thinkable response to the chaos and frustration of daily life? What is transgression? Who is threatened and why? How do you know who you are? Such questions seem to be in today's culture and would be very hard to answer.
