(Unfortunately many rights to punish or discipline their children have been all but completely stripped away) By simply spending time with children and talking together about their life and what is going on can make a big difference. I believe a teenager wants to be guided and feel as though his parent's care about what he/she does. If they are left to their own recognizance and feel inferior they may look to their peers for that guidance and or feeling of belonging. But, it isn't so cut and dry. Parents can and do argue they have no control over their children and therefore should not be held accountable for their actions.
