             An inability to acknowledge or understand the grieving process left Sheppard blind to his own motives and to the needs of his child, with tragic consequences. Is there a danger that physicians may focus on professional obligations at the expense of personal obligations and needs? Or that they may use the pressure of their responsibilities as an excuse for avoiding the difficult compromises that are necessary to nurture mature personal relationships?
             Sheppard forget that bring Rufus to his life is bring a negative influence to his son that has not know about real life. His son fantasy about his mother and influence from Rufus will make him loss his son. What his thinking is that if he make a good thing to people, he would receive back what he gave. People in this world are different kind that could not judge and see by our eyes and feeling. So what this story wants to show is the situation that we have to make when we have to choose between family or social?
             Tom Murphy in his essay "For Christ's Sake Fix Him" claims that "Sheppard has tried to forge a Faustian alliance with Rufus against Norton, but Rufus will not be "saved" any more than Norton will surrender his hope.". Sheppard being "the reformatory as a counselor" tries to help Rufus to get a common life like other kids have. In the other hand, Rufus is a kid but has a criminal behavior. He believes what he thought never can be changed by Sheppard. Rufus tries to give a negative thought to Norton that
