e 1930 came around three New York City retailers had turned their delivery operations over to UPS and the company began their expansion into cities throughout the East Coast and Midwest. The company had become a major power in the United States, in just 27 years. This man, Jim Casey was quite the entrepreneur.
             UPS did not make any major moves, until 1953 when they revamped UPS Air; with a two-day service that connects major cities on the East and West coast. In 1975, UPS became the first package delivery company to serve every address in the continental United States, and began its first operation outside the U.S., in Ontario, Canada. The following year, 1976, they started a domestic company in West Germany. Next Day Air service was established in 1982. UPS launched its own airline, in 1988, and extended its international air service to 41 countries in North America, Europe, and Asia Pacific. In 1989, the company expanded its international air service to more than 180 countries in Eastern and Western Europe, the Americas, the Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific. They also acquired eight European package delivery companies, establishing themselves, clearly, as the world leader in parcel delivery service.
